Enhance Your Health and Smile with Advanced Oral Surgery Solutions

What is the reason for people undergoing oral surgery?

Can Oral Surgery Be Combined with Orthodontic Treatment?

Orthodontists frequently deal with overcrowding while straightening teeth. To make room in the mouth, procedures such as tooth extraction may be used. While not always necessary, some orthodontists may suggest removing teeth as part of the treatment plan. Orthodontists also address jaw alignment issues, such as overbites and underbites, which can usually be treated without surgery. In severe cases, oral surgery may be required to adjust the jaw position. The need for oral surgery in your orthodontic treatment will be discussed during your initial consultation.

Preparing for oral surgery involves several steps

At Smiland Dental, we make your comfort a top priority during the procedure and ensure you are fully prepared. We believe in educating our patients and will guide you through each step of the process. Since each patient and surgery is unique, the information provided here is general, and we will discuss the specific details with you individually. Typically, you will be required to fast for a few hours before the procedure (potentially starting the night before), especially if anesthesia will be administered. We recommend purchasing ice packs and soft foods, stocking up on water, and having any necessary items for relaxation and comfort, such as ibuprofen.
